The 828cc Commando is the last and most developed of Norton‘s Isolastic twins, and the one most likely to still be earning its keep on the road. Keeping it there comes down to the right parts: correctly specified Isolastic components, sound electrics, and engine internals that suit the way the bike is actually ridden.

Which 850 are you working on?
The 850 ran from 1973 to 1977, taking over from the 750 Commando. Mk1 and Mk1A use the earlier Isolastic arrangement and a right-foot gearchange. The Mk3 of 1975 brought electric start, a left-foot gearchange, a rear disc and vernier-adjustable Isolastics. Parts do not always carry across those marks, so check your frame and engine numbers before ordering.
