Classic Motorcycle Collector Items

Not everything in a workshop ends up on a motorcycle. Plaques, dealer signs, factory leaflets and anniversary posters are what make a garage look like somebody’s garage, and the correct badge on a blazer or a set of overalls finishes a club turnout as surely as the right transfer finishes a tank.

This category gathers the memorabilia that comes to us with old dealer stock: BSA, Norton, Triumph, Matchless, Jawa and Weslake among them. Some pieces are original period items and some are later reproductions, and the listing says which, because for a collector that is the whole question.

What turns up here

Stock in this category moves differently from the rest of the site. Most of it arrives through dealer clearances and workshop house clearances rather than from a factory parts bin, so what you see listed is what we have rather than a range we restock. Pieces that look ordinary now are often the ones that become hard to find, because nobody kept them.

  • Wall pieces — marque plaques, dealer signs and display items
  • Paper — factory leaflets, anniversary posters and sales material
  • Badges — cloth badges for overalls and jackets, blazer badges
  • Riding gear — period clothing and despatch rider kit
  • Oddities — one-off and special parts that ended up here rather than under a model

Original or reproduction?

We say so in the listing wherever we can establish it. Where a piece reached us without provenance we describe what it is rather than what we would like it to be, and we will send extra photographs of maker’s marks, printing or stitching before you commit. Condition matters as much as origin with paper and cloth, so ask about folds, foxing and moth damage if the photographs leave any doubt. Tell us what you are collecting and we will put items aside as they come in.
