AJS & Matchless Twin Parts & Spares

AMC built its parallel twins under both badges from the late forties onwards, so a Matchless G9 and an AJS Model 20 are essentially the same machine under a different badge. The engine is its own design, with a centre main bearing that sets it apart from the other British twins, and it is not interchangeable with Triumph or BSA parts however similar a component may look.

Obsolete Bike Parts holds engine, cylinder head and ancillary parts for the AMC twins, in NOS and reproduction form, packed and shipped from the Netherlands. Parts that also suit the AMC singles are listed under both.

Which AMC twin are you working on?

The twin grew from 498cc in the G9 and Model 20, to 593cc in the G11 and Model 30, and to 646cc in the G12 and Model 31, with sports and CSR versions alongside. Bore-related parts follow capacity, so pistons, rings and gaskets must match. The later 750 models badged G15 and Model 33 used a Norton Atlas engine, and for those the engine parts come from the Norton side of our range. Frames, forks and many cycle parts are shared with the AMC singles of the same period, which widens the pool of usable parts considerably.

  • Cycle parts: oil tanks and frame fittings shared across the AJS and Matchless ranges

Quote the engine number

The engine number shows capacity and year, which is what decides most of these parts. Send it with your enquiry, together with the frame number, and we will check both against what we have.
