Norton Atlas 750 Parts & Spares
The Atlas stretched the Dominator twin to 745cc and kept it in the Featherbed frame. It was Norton’s big twin through the mid sixties, and the engine lived on in the Commando and in the AMC 750s. That lineage is useful when you are sourcing parts, but it also means a component labelled 750 is not automatically an Atlas part.
Obsolete Bike Parts holds Atlas engine, exhaust and frame parts, from piston ring sets to swept-back exhaust pipes, in NOS and reproduction form, with each listing stating which Norton twins it suits.
Atlas, Commando or AMC 750?
The Atlas, the early Commando and the Matchless G15 and AJS Model 33 all use a 745cc Norton twin, so bore-related parts such as rings and pistons often cross over. Frames, exhausts, oil tanks and engine mountings do not: the Atlas sits in a rigidly mounted Featherbed, the Commando on Isolastics, and the AMC machines in their own frame. Order engine parts by the engine number and cycle parts by the frame. Exhaust systems in particular were made in more than one pattern, so check the style of the pipes you are replacing.
Atlas parts we stock
- Engine: piston ring sets shared with the Commando 750, gaskets and top end parts
- Exhaust: swept-back exhaust pipes for the Atlas
- Frame: Featherbed frame fittings and cycle parts
- Electrics: Lucas components shared across the Norton twins
Mixed-up Featherbed?
Many Atlas engines have ended up in other frames. Give us both numbers and we will work out which parts follow the engine and which follow the frame. Photos of the number stampings and of the part itself make that quicker still.
