Hepolite Pistons & Piston Ring Sets

Hepolite is the name most British engine rebuilds arrive at in the end: pistons and ring sets for Norton, BSA, Triumph and AJS-Matchless engines, in standard size and in the oversizes a reground bore calls for. It is one of the few component brands owners look up by name, which is reason enough to keep them all on one page.

Obsolete Bike Parts stocks complete piston sets, high compression and Powermax versions among them, and separate ring sets for engines whose pistons are still serviceable. Both are listed by engine and by size, so you order to the bore you actually measured.

Order to the bore, not to the model

A piston set is only right if it matches what the barrel measures after boring. Our listings state the size as standard or as an oversize in thousandths of an inch, and what we hold runs from ten thousandths up to eighty. Measure the bore rather than assuming the last rebuild left it standard, and decide whether you need a complete piston set or only rings: where the pistons are serviceable, a ring set is all the job asks for. Compression matters too, since high compression sets are listed separately from standard ones.

Engines we list Hepolite parts for

  • Norton: Commando and Atlas 750, Dominator, Model 50, ES2 and 16H
  • BSA: A7, A10, A50 and A65 twins, B50, M20 and M21, Bantam
  • Triumph: 650 twins, Tiger 100, 3T
  • AJS and Matchless: 350 and 500 singles, 650 and 750 twins

Not sure which size?

Send us the bore measurement and the engine number. We will tell you which set matches, and whether a ring set on its own will do.
