Covers

Classic Motorcycle Covers & Casings

A cover is rarely only cosmetic. A timing cover carries oil seals and bearing registers, a rocker box has to seal against the pressure the engine is making, and a side panel usually holds the toolbox, the electrics or the air filter in place. Replacing a cracked or previously welded one is often the shortest route out of a chronic leak.

This category brings together the covers and casings we hold across the catalogue, for BSA, Triumph, Norton, Jawa and CZ, in original, NOS and reproduction. Castings changed during a model run even where the part number did not, so compare yours against the listing.

Which cover are you replacing?

Covers fall into families that do not interchange. Engine covers close off the timing side or the primary drive and often carry a seal, a bush or a bearing housing. Gearbox covers and inspection caps are their own fitment again. Body covers, side panels and toolboxes bolt to the frame, so they follow the frame rather than the engine. Two castings that look identical in a photograph can differ in stud pattern or in the depth of a register.

What this category holds

  • Engine covers — rocker boxes, timing covers, tappet covers, inspection caps
  • Primary and clutch — clutch covers and primary case components
  • Gearbox — gearbox covers and outer casings
  • Body — side panels, toolboxes, headlamp shells and subframe fittings
  • Fitting up — the gaskets, seals and fasteners a cover needs to go back on dry

Send us the number

If the old casting still carries a cast or stamped number, photograph it and send it with your frame and engine number. That settles fitment far faster than a model name does, and it saves you paying freight on a casting that was never going to line up.
