Norton Dominator Parts & Spares
The Dominator is the pre-unit Norton twin that carried the factory through the fifties and into the sixties, and the machine that put the twin-cylinder engine into the Featherbed frame. Most of what people replace on one is mechanical rather than cosmetic: chaincases, gearbox covers, brake and wheel components and the parts around the timing side.
Our Dominator range reflects that. It is strongest on the working components and on the items that were used up rather than kept, which are usually the ones a restoration stalls on. Original and NOS stock where it can still be had, tested reproduction where it cannot.
One name, several machines
The Dominator name covers a run of capacities and more than one frame, from the earlier plunger and swinging-arm machines through to the Featherbed twins that followed. Engine capacity, the frame type and the gearbox all changed across that span, and a great many machines were rebuilt with parts from more than one of them. Frame and engine numbers together tell us where yours actually sits, which the model name on its own will not.
What we stock for the Dominator
- Engine — pistons and rings, liners, valve components, conrod hardware, gaskets
- Gearbox and primary — covers, chaincases, sprockets, kickstart components
- Braking and wheels — brake shoes, wheel rims and hub fittings
- Electrics — wiring harnesses, lighting and instrument parts
- Chassis and trim — side stands, seats, exhaust pipes and silencers
Crossover with the later twins
Parts move between the Dominator and the Atlas and 650 machines more freely than the model names suggest. If you draw a blank here, those pages are the next place to look, and we are happy to check across all of them for you rather than leave you to guess at it.
