Triumph 5T & 5TA Speed Twin Parts

The Speed Twin is the machine that set the pattern every other British twin followed. The pre-unit 5T came first, the unit-construction 5TA replaced it in 1959, and the two are different motorcycles wearing the same name. Which one is on your bench decides most of what you order.

Obsolete Bike Parts holds 5T and 5TA parts alongside the Triumph 500 range they share so much with.

Pre-unit 5T or unit 5TA

The 5T has a separate engine and gearbox; the 5TA carries them in one casting from 1959. A good deal of the 500 twin parts list is common with the Tiger 100 in both eras, and some cycle parts run the full width of the range from the 5T to the T120. Frame and engine numbers settle it.

What we stock

  • Engine: connecting rods, valve and guide sets, valve spring sets, cylinder barrels with oversize pistons
  • Top end gaskets: sets covering the 5TA, Tiger 100 and the 500 unit twins
  • Chassis: front brake drums, brake cam levers and return springs, fork stanchions
  • Fittings and literature: pre-unit handlebars, sports seats for the unit twins, Haynes workshop manuals

Across the range

Fork stanchions and brake parts carry through to the larger twins, the T120 Bonneville included. Where a part suits more than one model the listing says so.
